Six years ago, about 10 male students at Newark’s Central High School created a tradition that not only set them apart, but changed the social culture at their new school.
Once a week they put on a dress shirt, bow tie or neck tie, slacks and shoes. Some topped the outfit with a blazer, others put on suits or sweaters. Read the full story on nj.com





On Monday, November 24th, Chancellor Avenue Renew School was visited by Councilwoman Mildred Crump and Captain Anthony Tarantino, President of the Newark Fire Officers Union, IAFF Local 1860, with 150 brand new jackets for our students. It was an exciting visit with representatives from the Fire Officers Union distributing new coats to our students. The union teamed up with Operation Warm, a nonprofit dedicated to providing new winter coats to children. We are so grateful that they have approached Chancellor Avenue Renew School with concern and care for keeping our students warm.
