Office of Expanded Learning Time and Community Partners to Present Programs
[NEWARK, New Jersey – November 1, 2017] The Newark Public Schools Office of Expanded Learning Time (ELT) will host this year’s first OPEN HOUSE at the Marion Bolden Student Center on Thursday, November 2, from 5 to 7 p.m. The Bolden Center is located at 230 Broadway in Newark.
According to Sara Cruz, Special Assistant for ELT, “We encourage parents, guardians and students to join us to explore the fun, educational, youth networking opportunities available for Newark youth.” According to Ms. Cruz, the Bolden Center has programs for every student, whatever their interest; from music, arts, STEM, television production, scholars, poetry and spoken word and more.
The Open House will feature Bolden Center partners programs at the Center; including Sounds of Tomorrow, the Liberty Science STEM Club, Advantage Arts/Yendor Productions, NEWARK GALS, STRIVE, Inc., Garden State Scholars, L.O.U.D. Poetry and more.
The Office of Expanded Learning Time (ELT) coordinates, develops, implements and promotes quality before/after school and summer programs. The afterschool programs are for high students only. The goal of ELT is to enhance the academic experience of school aged Newark residents through a portfolio of structured, supervised and positive activities.
The Bolden Center is open for students of all ages.
