On Saturday, December 3, 2022, the Office of Student Life partnered with the Family Assistance Resource Center (FARC) to provide homeless and displaced NBOE students and their families with resources. As part of the family resource day, FARC provided McKinney-Vento eligible recipients with a “free” shopping experience to acquire clothing, sheets, towels, diapers, new winter coats, small household items, and toiletries. In addition to the shopping experience, the Office of Student Life presented families with a hygiene kit that contained clothing detergent, deodorant, soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, conditioner, a fleece blanket, a scarf/hat/glove set, and a ShopRite gift card.
As a reminder, if you or someone you know is homeless or displaced and attends a Newark Board of Education school, be sure to contact the school’s McKinney-Vento Specialist and/or the district Specialist for Homeless Management.
