Oliver Street School recently wrapped up its Black History Month festivities with a special appearance by acclaimed author Tami Charles, known for her New York Times best-selling book "ALL BECAUSE YOU MATTER." The author engaged students in personalized book talks during three sessions tailored for different grade levels (PK-2, 3-5, 6-8).
Ms. Charles captivated students with her heartfelt discussions, leaving a lasting impact on their minds and hearts. Interacting with a best-selling author was a thrilling experience for the students, who were delighted to discover that Ms. Charles is an alumna of University High School. Each session kicked off with an icebreaker activity, leading to a dialogue about the significance of storytelling. Students actively participated by asking the author questions and concluding the sessions positively.
A special thank you goes out to Principal Luis Henriques, School Counselor Brandon Simmons, and Director Michelina Thornton for their collaborative efforts in organizing this enriching experience!
