At the annual Fall New Jersey Association of School Librarians' (NJASL) Conference from Dec. 5-7, NJASL and the Association for Education Communications and Technology (AECT) has named Margaret Adjoga-Otu has the 2021 Villy Gandhi Leadership Training Scholar. Her prestigious award was presented to her by District Superintendent and NJASL's 2020 Outstanding Administrator of the Year, Roger León. Mr. León also served as a panelist at the conference.
The winner of this prestigious award is chosen for their emerging leader qualities as a School Library Media Specialist and supporter of technology in the schools. In naming Margaret Adjoga-Otu the winner of this award, NJASL and AECT recognized her leadership, talent, enthusiasm and her contributions to her district, association and profession. Among other initiatives, she has not only advocated in her district but extends her leadership qualities to her community involvement. Margaret has, for NJASL, been a recruiter by working with other Districts who are not fully active with the organization to show how and why it is important to become involved with NJASL. Margaret's desire is to leave lasting impacts on students, staff, parents, school communities and school districts at-large.
She participated in the AECT Summer Leadership Conference on July 19 and 20, where she participated in such activities as the AECT Board meeting, sessions on strategic planning, Division planning and other sessions. She attended the 2021 AECT International Convention in Chicago on November 2 - 6. Margaret will also serve as a member of the NJASL Board of Trustees in 2021-2022 as the Villy Scholar, a member of a NJASL Professional Development & Resources Committee as the District Recruiter, in addition to developing an idea she learns from the AECT Convention that will benefit NJASL and also be a member of the AECT Technology Integrated Learning Division Board.
