The Communications Department develops and implements strategic internal and external communications for Newark Public Schools. The Communications Department serves schools, central office teams, and the community by supporting the development and delivery of clear, timely, and accurate information about the district. The department provides resources, and materials, to ensure families, students, staff, partners, media, citizens, and other members of the community are kept informed about Newark Public Schools' key priorities, successes, and challenges.
Our goal is to provide superior customer service, striving for transparency and meaningful, authentic engagement. We welcome all constituents - internal and external - to share ideas, feedback, and stories with the Communications Department.

Primary responsibilities of the department include, but are not limited to
Work with local, regional and national media providing story leads and responding to requests for information
Responsible for maintaining content on the website
Develops and coordinates internal and external public relations, marketing and communications materials in print, website, radio/TV and other media for the district
Designs internal and external newsletters (Principal Points, Teacher Talk, News Central, In Our Schools, School Board Memo, Executive Staff Update)
Prepare talking points, presentations, and reports as assigned by the Superintendent
Act as district photographer and videographer at events
Work closely with several outside agencies/partners, including NJDOE, Newark City Hall, non-profits, college and universities, clergy, and the philanthropic community
Manage various special events
Principal Points & Teacher Talk Newsletter Submissions
The submission deadline for both Principal Points and Teacher Talk Newsletter Submissions is no later than 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
The Principal Points and Teacher Talk newsletters are be delivered every other Monday.
