Ms. Daniella Alvarez
Principal
Principal Alvarez is a highly experienced and dedicated educational leader with a strong commitment to student success and educational excellence. Raised in the Ironbound section of Newark, New Jersey, she is a proud graduate of Wilson Avenue School and Science High School. She has always had a deep connection to the local community and a passion for improving the lives of young learners.
Ms. Alvarez began her educational journey at her Alma Mater, Wilson Avenue School, where she developed a love for teaching and a desire to make a positive impact on students' lives. After completing her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education at Kean University, Ms. Alvarez embarked on an eight-year career as a classroom teacher. She also taught at the Rutgers SMART Program 7th and 8th grade students who showed interest in pursuing careers in Health Sciences. During this time, she honed her instructional skills, fostered a dynamic learning environment, and nurtured the intellectual curiosity of her students.
Ms. Alvarez also had the opportunity to work as a curriculum writer for the district's Office of Science, where she showcased her expertise in STEM education. As the Lead Science Teacher, she employed innovative approaches, using the Project Lead the Way Curriculum, to foster student curiosity and inquiry. She facilitated the growth of the STEM program through grants and professional development. This experience further solidified her commitment to student-centered learning and the integration of cutting-edge educational practices.
Driven by a desire to broaden her impact and contribute to educational leadership, Ms. Alvarez pursued a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership, Management and Policy from Seton Hall University. With her advanced degree, she continued her path at Wilson Avenue School, this time as a Vice Principal. In this role, she contributed in shaping school policies, implementing effective teaching practices, and supporting the professional development of the faculty. She also had the opportunity to work as the Summer School Lead Principal overseeing 15 Summer School Sites.
Now, as Ms. Alvarez assumes the position of Principal at Salomé Ureña School, she brings with her over a decade of valuable experience in education. She is thrilled to have the opportunity to work collaboratively with the Salomé Ureña School community, ensuring that every student has access to a high-quality education that prepares them for success in the modern world. She firmly believes in the power of collaboration and is eager to foster a strong partnership among students, parents, teachers, and the broader community.
Using a child-centered approach to leadership, an openness to continuous learning, and a passion for educational excellence, Ms. Alvarez is poised to guide Salomé Ureña School to new heights.
With her deep roots in Newark, her extensive educational background, and her unwavering dedication to student success, Principal Alvarez is excited to embark on this new chapter and contribute to the ongoing growth and development of the Salomé Ureña School community.

Mrs. Nancy Ravaioli
Vice Principal
Mrs. Ravaioli attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and obtained a degree in English with a minor in Education. She then obtained a Master's Degree in Teaching in 2001 and then received her Principal certification through the NJExcel program. She taught English for 10 years and also served as Literacy Coach for 11 years and as an Instructional Technology Coach for 1 year.
She is a mother of 5 children, 2 girls and 3 boys.
