Jeremy started Barringer with a limited amount of english skills and was placed in ESL for the first two years of his high school career. Jeremy tested out of ESL and was placed in honors and Advanced Placement (AP) Classes during his Junior and Senior years. Jeremy utilized many of the resources offered to Newark Students and also found resources on his own. He maintained his honor roll status during all four year while actively participating in many programs throughout the summer and the school year. Jeremy is a member of the Barringer Student Government, NJ Seeds and the School Based Youth Services Program (SBYSP). Jeremy joined the School Based Youth Services Program because he wanted to start eating healthier food and lose weight in order to participate on the track and wrestling team. As a result of his dedication and discipline, Jeremy lost forty five pounds and was able to join the track and wrestling team. During the last two summers, Jeremy worked as a Summer Youth Enrichment Student for Rutgers RU Ready to Work Program and NJSeeds. As a junior Jeremy was also a member of the Barringer Math Honors Society. Jeremy Romano is an exemplary student and individual. He is courteous, thoughtful, compassionate about his community, loyal and a great representative of what Barringer High School has to offer.
