It's never too late!
A Message from the Superintendent
Through the hard work and collaboration of our many district partners and key staff members, I am honored to offer the following adult education opportunities. As indicated in the logic model of our ten-year strategic plan The Next Decade: 2020-30, the prioritization of adult education is evident through its inclusion as one of our Keys to 2020. Within the Newark Board of Education, we serve students throughout the learning continuum - from conception to cradle, all the way through to adult education and beyond. The importance of adult education cannot be overstated, as it serves to remind all of us, and in particular our elementary and high school aged students, that the pursuit of education is timeless and extends to all ages. Once again, it is my honor to offer the following opportunities and programs designed to best meet the needs of our adult learners.
General Information
Courses and classes are open to all Newark residents on a first come, first serve basis. Most courses and classes are open to a maximum of 15- 20 students. All students must be 18 or older and aged-out of formal education in order to register for the High School Equivalency courses.
Continuation of classes are based on funding and enrollment.
Instructors are subject to change.
When feasible, classes are open entry/open exit and maintain waiting lists.
For ALL courses, students may be dropped if absent for three consecutive classes without notifying the teacher or office staff.
Missed coursework must be made up upon the student’s return to class.
Students must maintain appropriate behavior in all classes.
Only students over 18 are permitted in class unless specifically authorized by the administration.
Students must be dressed appropriately and maintain good hygiene that do not cause a disruption to the operation of the class.
Newark Board of Education prohibits the unlawful harassment or bullying of any student or employee by any other employee, student, or other person on school premises.
