NEWARK, NJ - Ironbound Recreation Center's Eddie Moraes Field played host to the Newark Board of Education's Tournament final on Tuesday, November 9th, 2021.
West Side High School Roughriders (7-9, 7-6 SEC) went up against title-holding contenders East Side High School Red Raiders (9-9-1, 4-6 SEC).
East Side Red Raiders came out firing on all cylinders and got two first half goals from Guilherme Mourao and Gabriel Borges with beautiful assists from seniors Carlos Veloso and Jezer Rodriguez-Santos. Goalkeepers Jordan Perez, Kenny Sancho and Rui Rosete all got time between the posts and contributed to a shut-out clean sheet in the final.
This attacking surge proved to be enough for the Red Raiders to lift their 15th NBOE Tournament title since its creation with a 2-0 victory over West Side.
