The Declaration of Principles is a joint statement advocating the game of hockey as a powerful platform for participants to build character, foster positive values and develop important life skills that transcend the game. The Declaration of Principles is the foundational element of a new initiative supported by all of these 17 organizations: This is Hockey. SEC Best Teammate Award Recipient Angela Gonzales
Angela Gonzales is reliable, motivated and welcomes new challenges. As a four year starting player and charter member of the East Side Girl’s Lacrosse team Angela has been one of our go to players on and off the field. She is one of the few players to play all four positions. A true team player who is always ready to help whenever needed on and off the field. As one of our team leaders Angela is also quick to help a new player or help with equipment. She tells me “It’s the generous thing to do.”
At the end of last season when our goalie graduated, Angela volunteered to learn yet another new position as goalie. Knowing that being a goalie is a very athletic position Angela prepares in the off season. In addition to off season goalie practice, Angela also participates in our Cross Fit program designed to improve both cardio endurance and strength. She is also a member of the Yoga club which balances out her fitness program.
Angela has also been a member of the Golf team and the Hockey in New Jersey program. She also finds time to participate in community events. Angela has participated in the Ironbound Halloween parade and park beautification projects.
Angela values education. Her academic schedule includes AP and Honors classes while maintaining a 3.78 GPA. This year Angela also has an internship at Ann Street Elementary school. She is a teacher’s assistant for the first grade teachers three days a week. Angela is kind and caring and her work ethic will ensure her continued success in her future endeavors. Angela inspires us!
