Carreira was a monster for Newark East Side at the plate and on the mound. He went 9-for-14 with four extra-base hits, including a home run and five RBIs. On the mound, he tossed nine total innings, allowing just two hits, one run and striking out 14.
Red Raider Lacrosse Captain Joao Silva surpassed a milestone only 240 other lacrosse goalies have done in the sport's history, 500 varsity saves. Joao started his first varsity game with only 3 days of preparation and since then has exemplified the program's "One Goal" mentality. He lost all but 3 games in his Sophomore campaign to season-ending knee surgery. He dedicated himself to rehab and physical therapy to come back better than ever. In the closing minutes of the 2nd period against Passaic Valley, Joao made his 7th save of the game and 500th of his career. He currently holds a 59.6% save percentage in his Junior year.
