Mr. Alves grew up in the Ironbound. East Side High School is located in the heart of our community, representing the different cultures that live amongst us in the Ironbound. He also graduated from East Side. Mr. Alves says East Side is his second home. Hobbies are exercising, playing soccer occasionally with friends. He spends his weekends visiting his parents and extended family, spending quality time with friends and going out his his wife.

Ms. Arfinengo loves spending time reading and traveling around the United States and the world. She learned English when she was over 32 years old. "If I can do it, you can do it!"

Mr. Bott appreciates the awesome learning community of East Side High School. The community provides its scholars as well as its teachers the opportunity to learn and grow. During the summer, Mr. Bott gives tours at national parks.

Mr. Cordero's experience with the student population has been that they are pleasant to teach. He coaches baseball, currently a 14-year baseball coach in Newark, NJ. Mr. Cordero was a 2020 NPS teacher of the year candidate and February 2023 teacher of the month at East Side HS. He also enjoys weekend day trips with his family.

Mr. Hay came to East Side to continue retired 25-year veteran John Dudley's vision of bringing excellent personal finance education and the game of lacrosse to East Side High School. He plays ice hockey and lacrosse. Mr. Hay is a broadcaster of high school sports for the NGHS Network. He coaches for ESHS, Tristate Lacrosse Club, and he volunteers with Urban Exposure Lacrosse, a club dedicated to bringing the game of lacrosse to urban Essex County.

From being the Debate Team and Chess Club advisor to teaching AP Human Geography and International Baccalaureate classes, I have always been supported to be a lifelong learner. Outside of school, I enjoy coaching debate, being involved in activism, and spending time with my family.
