On Saturday, December 12th, West Side Campus (home of Newark Early College and Newark Vocational High Schools) held a Holiday giveaway. During this event, co-sponsored by the West Side Alumni Association and the MCJ Foundation, families of students and community members visited the campus to hand select Christmas trees, ornaments and lights. In addition to the tree giveaway, families were able to select winter coats from donations that had been provided to the school. In all, 200 Christmas trees, lights and ornaments and over 400 coats were distributed to families in our community. The excellent turn-out at this event is due in part to the great amount work that staff and students contributed in order to make sure that all ran smoothly.
