What is DECA?
Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe. During the 2022-2023 school year we are proud to announce 41 West Side students currently enrolled in the Entrepreneurial Studies and Supply Chain Management Pathways became members of DECA. Our West Side High School DECA Advisors are Mrs. Richardson and Mr. Mason.
With nearly a 70-year history, DECA has impacted the lives of more than ten million students, educators, school administrators and business professionals since it was founded in 1946. DECA prepares our students by:
- Providing authentic activities, and learning methods to prepare members for college and careers.
- Allowing students to put their knowledge into action through rigorous project-based activities that require creative solutions with practical outcomes.
- Promoting competition – As in the global economy, a spark of competition drives DECA members to excel and improve their performance. Students have the opportunity to compete in regional, state and national competitions.
- Promoting success by the awarding of state and national scholarships annually.
DECA members are ambitious, high-achieving leaders equipped to conquer the challenges of their aspirations.
