1913
The structure that now houses Technology High School, designed by architects Guilbert and Betelle, was built. Shortly after the construction was completed the Newark Normal School moved into this newly constructed building on Fourth Avenue and Broadway (originally called Bellview Avenue).
1934
The first graduating class was conferred with Bachelor of Science Degree in Education in the fields of elementary education, kindergarten-primary education,fine arts, and industrial arts.
1954
Newark State College purchased 120 acres from the Kean family for its new campus.
1958
Newark State Teachers College held its final convocation in Newark.
1968
The state Department of Education received a grant from the Economic Development Administration to build an addition to the 187 Broadway structure on a share cost basis to house COED. Click here for information about COED.
1974
COED opens. COED fashioned its vocational program after the successful program offered to adults by Manpower Inc in the academic part of what is now Technology High School. COED offered vocational programs, many of which are still offered today.
1996
Technology High School Opens.
2009
US News & World Report lists Technology High School as one of the best high schools in New Jersey.
