National Day of Giving – November 30, 2021
Nov 30, 2021
Michelle Obama Elementary School is a health and wellness school. We pride ourselves on 3 core values: Community, Leadership, and Wellness. The National Day of Giving is Tuesday November 30th. We decided as a family to donate snacks, toiletries, and board games to Trinitas Hospital.
Community- As a school community we pride ourselves on public service. Students who donate to others from a young age will often continue to give back to their communities as adults. As we become the school who engages this pursuit of having students give to those in need, we are setting the world up for more positive characters to enter the adult world. The world can use more kindness and people who enjoy giving to others.
Leadership- At Michelle Obama Elementary School we simply must lead by example in an effort to display the importance of giving to those in need. We prioritize the needs of others and truly want to be a blessing wherever we can be. We want our future young leaders to understand their task and overall mission. Every task we engage in is often just the vehicle to internal learning. It’s like the bun on a hamburger, it’s there to hold all the goodies inside. Our young leaders are asked to reflect on his or her experience. How were they challenged? How did they respond? How can they make an impact? How can they problem solve? Believe it or not, young students can answer each question about this task of recruiting donations.
Wellness-Trinitas Hospital has an adolescent residential program. We believe in teaching our children how to support the health and wellness of other children. Social emotional and behavioral health is important to us. We believe partnering with a hospital that services the mental and emotional health of our students is a terrific opportunity to get our students talking more about mental health, social emotional awareness, and making a difference.
At Michelle Obama Elementary School, we lead and succeed.
