Teacher must possess a Teacher of Mathematics Certificate (NJDOE Endorsement Code 1900). ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Algebra II MA10411 (5 credits)
Honors Algebra II* MA10412 (5 credits)
Prerequisite(s): Successful completion of Algebra 1 and Geometry; or successful completion of Algebra 1 and concurrent enrollment in Geometry.
Algebra II is designed to build on algebraic and geometric concepts. It develops advanced algebra skills such as systems of equations, advanced polynomials, imaginary and complex numbers, exponential, logarithmic, and trigonometric functions. Teacher must possess a Teacher of Mathematics Certificate (NJDOE Endorsement Code 1900). ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Calculus MA10611 (5 credits)
AP Calculus** MA10512 (5 credits)
Prerequisite(s): Successful completion of Precalculus
AP Calculus is designed to be the equivalent of a first semester college calculus course devoted to topics in differential and integral calculus. The course focuses on students’ understanding of calculus concepts and provides experience with methods and applications.
Teacher must possess a Teacher of Mathematics Certificate (NJDOE Endorsement Code 1900). Teacher must have completed the AP Summer Institute. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Geometry MA10311 (5 credits)
Honors Geometry* MA10312 (5 credits)
Pre-AP Geometry with Statistics MA91011 (5 credits)
Prerequisite(s): Successful completion of Algebra I
Geometry includes an in-depth analysis of plane, solid, and coordinate geometry as they relate to both abstract mathematical concepts as well as real-world problem situations. Topics include logic and proof, parallel lines and polygons, perimeter and area analysis, volume and surface area analysis, similarity and congruence, trigonometry, and analytic geometry. Emphasis is placed on developing critical thinking skills as they relate to logical reasoning and argument. Students are required to use different technological tools and manipulatives to discover and explain much of the course content.
Teacher must possess a Teacher of Mathematics Certificate (NJDOE Endorsement Code 1900). ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Precalculus MA10511 (5 credits)
Honors Precalculus* MA10512 (5 credits)
Prerequisite: Successful completion of Algebra II
Honors Precalculus introduces the foundations of analysis designed to precede a calculus or other advanced mathematics sequence with an emphasis on functions. Topics include functions, trigonometry, analytic geometry, and sequences and series. The foundations of calculus--lines tangent to a curve and the area under a curve--are embedded in each topic.
Teacher must possess a Teacher of Mathematics Certificate (NJDOE Endorsement Code 1900). ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Statistics and Probability MA40111 (5 credits)
Prerequisite: Successful completion of Algebra II
Statistics & Probability introduces students to the major concepts and tools for collecting, organizing, analyzing, presenting and drawing conclusions from data. Statistics lies at the heart of the type of quantitative reasoning necessary for making important advances in the sciences, such as medicine and psychology, and for making important decisions in business and public policy.
Teacher must possess a Teacher of Mathematics Certificate (NJDOE Endorsement Code 1900). ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
AP Statistics** MA45013 (5 credits)
Prerequisite: Successful completion of Algebra II with teacher recommendation
AP Statistics is an introductory college-level statistics course that introduces students to the major concepts and tools for collecting, analyzing, and drawing conclusions from data. Students cultivate their understanding of statistics using technology, investigations, problem solving, and writing as they explore concepts like variation and distribution; patterns and uncertainty; and data-based predictions, decisions, and conclusions.
