The vision for mathematics education in the Newark Public Schools requires rigorous, standards-driven mathematics curricula, knowledgeable teachers who can integrate instruction with assessment, policies that enhance and support learning, classrooms with access to technology, and a commitment to both equity and excellence.

This year Mount Vernon launches a new math curriculum for grades 6-8 called Illustrative Math. Our students in grades Kindergarten through Grade Five will continue with Eureka Math. The curriculum uses a highly visual and topic intensive approach to teaching math concepts.
