Nelson Mandela Elementary School proudly commemorates its 3rd Literacy Day in our inaugural year, and we're delighted to share the excitement with our community. A special shout-out goes to the Newark Fire Department for generously volunteering their time and distributing adorable fire hats to our students, adding an extra layer of fun to our literacy celebration.
This Literacy Day was doubly special as it coincided with Pajama Day at our school. Picture this – students snuggling up to captivating stories in their PJs, creating a cozy and magical atmosphere that enhanced the joy of reading.
In addition to immersive book readings, Literacy Day also spotlighted our commitment to sight word practice. We believe in the holistic development of our students, and integrating sight word activities ensures a well-rounded literacy education. Every day at Nelson Mandela Elementary, we prioritize fostering a love for reading alongside essential skills that empower our students for a lifetime of learning.
As the sun set on Literacy Day, we bid a heartfelt goodbye to our incredible volunteers, expressing gratitude for their contribution. Happy holidays echoed through the hallways as we wished our students a season filled with joy and relaxation. The staff eagerly anticipates the new year, looking forward to reconnecting with our students after a well-deserved holiday break.
Join us on January 25, 2024, for our 4th Literacy Day, where the magic of reading and community collaboration continues to flourish.
