Newark School of Global Studies has Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to Commemorate the Opening of the School Building

Superintendent Roger León officially commemorated the opening of Newark School of Global Studies on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 and the beginning of a new immersive journey for Newark Public Schools and students alike, making it the second new school to be unveiled by the district last week.
Newark School of Global Studies provides an opportunity for students to become the problem solvers of the world by meaningfully engaging in the sphere of international relations to tackle the global challenges of our time through the lens of an academic framework. Students will develop fluency in Arabic or Chinese and have the unique opportunity to travel abroad and become global citizens.
As the district’s newest magnet high school, students enrolled in Newark School of Global Studies can earn college credits and certifications as they prepare for careers as Diplomats, Economists, Foreign Service Officers, Political Analysts, Central Intelligence Agents, and more.
Superintendent Roger León was joined by Mayor Ras J. Baraka, Board Vice President Dawn Haynes, Board Member Hasani Council, Ambassador Attallah Shabazz, Principal Nelson Ruiz, Dr. Ursula Sanjamino and Mr. Troy Dorch of Seton Hall University, Dr. Jin Wang of Kean University, members of the Facilities Department, faculty, staff, parents, students, and invited guests.
