Community Food Bank of New Jersey
CFNJ works to fight hunger and poverty in New Jersey by assisting those in need and seeking long-term solutions. They engage, educate and empower all sectors of society in the battle. They fill the emptiness caused by hunger with Food, Help and Hope. Food, diapers, clothing and school supply shopping for teachers twice a year.

Newark Emergency Services for Families (NESF)

For over 40 years, NESF, a non-profit organization, has been serving the Greater Essex County Community. NESF is committed to providing quality services to individuals and families who need assistance with emergency food, clothing, shelter, utilities, rent, and other basic necessities during times of crisis. The homeless, the working poor, seniors, dually diagnosed, and those affected by fire, eviction, or domestic violence remain our primary focus. When there is nowhere else to turn, individuals can come to NESF.

Family Success Center
The Family Success Center is one of several state-funded networks designed as “one-stop” shops that provide wrap-around resources and supports for families before they find themselves in crisis. Family Success Centers offer primary and secondary child abuse prevention services to families and bring together concerned community residents, leaders, and community agencies to address the problems that threaten the safety and stability of families and the community. There is no cost to access services provided by Family Success Centers. Core services include:
∙ Access to information on child, maternal and family health services, including linkage to publicly funded health insurance programs and referrals to local health care services;
∙ Economic self-sufficiency/employment related services/income security services; ∙ Information & Referral Services (connection to off-site public and private resources) ∙ Life Skills training (budgeting, nutrition, etc.); Housing related services; Parent education Parent-child activities; Advocacy.

The Family Success Center’s overarching goal is to strengthen families and to prevent child abuse and neglect in the home. Through proactive services, we enhance parental capacity for growth and development; increase the stability, health, and wellbeing of children and families; and empower community residents to acquire the knowledge, skills and resources they need to provide optimal outcomes for families. The NWC Family Success Center provides family health, parent education, family activities, employment-related services, life skills, housing-related services, advocacy, referrals, special assistance, citizenship classes, and ESL classes. The Family Success Center provides a comprehensive family support system for families residing in Newark with emphasis on the Central Ward. The FSC aims to prevent child maltreatment by strengthening individual and family functioning; enhancing parental capacity for growth and development; increasing the stability, health and well-being of children and families; and empowering community residents to acquire the knowledge, skills and resources they need to succeed and provide optimal outcomes for children and families.

WEEQUAHIC FAMILY SUCCESS CENTER
NESF is home to the Central and West Ward Family Success Center (FSC). This is a one-stop comprehensive resource center that promotes family unity and empowerment. The Center hosts monthly parent training workshops, grandparent support group, access to computers and linkages to supportive services.

Ironbound Community Corporation is committed to “family strengthening,” a prevention-based strategy that partners professional staff with families as they reach towards their goals. ICC’s Family Services are primarily delivered through two Family Success Centers that provide a range of services and programs to support and strengthen families. Community members look to the Family Success Center in times of need, for community celebration, and for access to opportunity.

LA CASA DE DON PEDRO
La Casa de Don Pedro responds to the needs of Greater Newark, New Jersey’s communities with comprehensive programs that empower people and revitalize neighborhoods, every step of the way. Programs and services are available to people of all backgrounds and all ages. The programs promote family well-being, healthy child development, educational achievement, employment opportunities, social justice, affordable homes, financial self-sufficiency, energy conservation, and neighborhood renewal.
From parenting education to inter-generational programs, formal classroom education to comprehensive housing counseling, legal immigration assistance to helping make people’s homes more energy efficient, the goal is that residents access all they can to improve their quality of life.
FAMILY SUCCESS CENTER AT NEWARK BETH ISRAEL

In partnership between Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, individuals and families can receive program and service referrals, apply for the Affordable Healthcare, receive assistance with online applications for government benefits; and receive needed items for infants and children. This Center’s focus is on expectant mothers and those needing social service assistance prior to admittance to the hospital. This Center aids in the diversion of non-emergency patients from the emergency room and triage units.
Hours of operation Monday through Thursday, 9am – 4:30pm; Friday, 1:00pm – 4:30pm.
