Bard Faculty David Oquendo exhibits show at Equal Space
Feb 25, 2020
EQUALSPACE (89 Market Street, Newark) is proud to present David D. Oquendo’s “Amor Fati”. Loosely translated to “Love of Fate”; Amor Fati is used to describe an attitude in which one sees everything that happens in one’s life, including suffering and loss, as good or, at the very least, necessary.
Oquendo has developed a personally constructed script. He calls this writing system, “Metaphrase”. This “Metaphrase” is a series that includes large-scale wall renderings (indoor and outdoor) and mixed media paintings. The artwork explores the artist’s ideas and questions of identity, language, meditation, religion, and life.
Amor Fati will be on display until April 30, 2020
