Students Speak at NJ Academy of Science 68th Annual Meeting
May 22, 2023
On Saturday, May 20, 2023, BHSEC Newark students: Sydney Ekwe, Ariel Ortiz, Al'Quamir Wharton, Allure Dames, and Kyree Robinson-Banks were Seminar Speaker Leaders at the 68th Annual Meeting of the New Jersey Academy of Science (NJAS). Our professor, Dr. Maria Agapito is the President of the NJAS and a powerful advocate for students learning to become research scientists.
"The students highlight[ed] bioethical dilemmas that resulted in the formation of ethical codes or rules to protect humans from clinical research. We are humans, we are not perfect, sometimes we can get clouded with our personal agendas for this reason humanistic ethical guidelines are essential to maintain order in the scientific community.
Lastly, the students highlight[ed] the importance and the need of representation of minority leaders in healthcare and research management, in order for our patients of color to regain trust back into research studies and medical treatments." -NJAS.org
