Dear Thirteenth Avenue School Families,
Welcome to the 2023-2024 academic year! I hope you are all relaxed, recharged, and ready to start the new school year. I would like to introduce myself. My name is Thalia Brownridge-Smith, and I am the new Principal of Thirteenth Avenue School. I am looking forward to partnering with you, and I thank you for the warm welcome I have received thus far. Our team of motivated faculty and staff is ready to take on this new year. We are committed to providing an outstanding educational experience for your child(ren).
Below you will find dates and important information to prepare for the 2023-2024 school year:

- First Day of School: Tuesday, September 5, 2023
- School Hours: 8:25 a.m.- 2:55 p.m.
- Arrival Locations

- PreK: Front Yard
- Grades K-2: Playground
- Grades 3-5: 8th Street (Exit 3)
- Grades 6-8: 9th Street (Exit 4)
- NBOE Transportation: 9th Street
- Register your children via SchoolMint before September 5, 2023.
- School uniforms are available at Kids Place (311 Ferry St.). PreK-8th Grade students should wear khaki pants and black polo shirts with the school logo. Gym uniforms are optional. Sweaters with logos are available as well.
- After School Programs will begin on September 5, 2023.
- Our goal is to have 100% of students with lunch applications on file prior to the first day of school. Lunch application completion is important as this process helps fund both our school and our district.
- Meet the Staff, for students and families, will be held on Thursday, August 31, 2023 (1:00 p.m.- 3:00 p.m.).
- Summer Reading assignments are due on September 5, 2023.
- Back to School Night will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2023 (6:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m.).
- Perfect Attendance Celebration: Students with perfect attendance for the month of September will participate in a fun-filled celebration on Monday, October 2, 2023.
